"It is better to
avoid than to run; better to run than to de-escalate; better to
de-escalate than to fight; better to fight than to die. The very
essence of self-defense is a thin list of things that might get
you out alive when you are already screwed."

We're not offering martial arts masquerading as self
defence, we're not guaranteeing to turn you into some kind of street
bad-ass and contrary to an often mis quoted fact, 90% of all street
altercations do not end up on the ground, for that to happen you
need to be grabbed, held and wrestled with. Yes this could happen
and does but, here's the golden nugget, we teach you pre-emptive and
avoidance strategies that are legal and easy to learn.
We don't offer regular classes, that's what our martial arts classes
are for, 'cos we teach these same core self protection strategies
alongside the normal curriculum.
What we do offer is be-spoke classes for individuals, groups,
schools and youth centred groups like scouts and guides. Depending
on your needs these classes will be 2/4/6 or 8 hours duration.
See our ACS Self defence website for more information.
Knife and edged weapons awareness programme - was created by Steve Timperley. In an age where you are more likely to be killed by an edged weapon - and the variety of edged weapons excluding knives is varied and abundant encompassing things like broken glass and screwdrivers,it makes sense to prepare yourself with a little training and education.
We include basic KEWAP knife awareness in our self defence and martial arts classes but also offer an enhanced classroom type experience that examines knife culture alongside physical strategies.
Here are a couple of Self Defence client
testimonials:
Blenheim Scout Group 2019
"Thank you so much for giving up your time to teach our
scouts. It was absolutely brilliant and inspiring, I did not
know what to expect, it showed us that it is the correct mind
set and knowledge of what you can do within the law that will
enable you to cope with potential problems. Some of the scouts
like myself, who have martial arts experience, thought we
understand conflicts, but we now have a knowledge that will help
us prevent a situation from escalating to physical harm. It was
amazing and I would personally definitely love to do more."

Caddington Watch 2017
"David did a great job at keeping our attention as well as
keeping the session fun. Also, David welcomed comments and
suggestions during the training and explained the do's and
don'ts of keeping yourself safe. Everyone had a great time and
thought the course gave them a valuable set of life skills which
made them feel more confident. I would highly recommend your
Self Defense course to other groups who I feel would benefit."”
